The Gaggia Classic E24 is a traditional, hands-on espresso machine with a 58 mm portafilter and a manual steam wand. It suits people who want to learn the craft and are happy to buy a separate grinder. Skip it if you want automatic milk, a built-in grinder, or the quickest path to a good first cup.
Which Gaggia is this?
This review covers the Gaggia Classic E24 (model RI9380). Retailers and Gaggia’s US store also use the names Classic Pro E24 and Classic Evo Pro for machines in this family, and the figures they list differ in places (for example, 1350 W in the US manual and 1425 W on one US listing), so match the model code RI9380 on any listing before you buy.

Filters in the box
Gaggia lists three filters: one pressurized filter for 1 or 2 cups, and two traditional filters. On the 120 V US version, the traditional single-cup filter is the only single-cup option and it is for one cup or one pod. Pressurized filters are designed to be more forgiving of an imperfect grind, while traditional filters reward a better grinder and better technique.
Who it is for
- You want to learn manual espresso and milk steaming.
- You like the 58 mm portafilter standard, which many accessories use.
- You are comfortable budgeting for a grinder and a few tools.
Who should skip it
- You want automatic milk texturing. The Bambino Plus automates that part.
- You want grinding built in. Look at an all-in-one machine.
- You want a long list of electronic features. The Classic E24 is a manual-style machine.
What you still need to buy
A grinder capable of a fine, adjustable espresso grind is the key purchase, because the pressurized filter can only forgive so much. Price the full setup before comparing it with an all-in-one machine. See How to Choose an Espresso Machine for the checklist.
Warranty
Gaggia’s product page does not state a warranty period and links a separate warranty PDF. Retailers advertise different terms, so check Gaggia’s current US terms before you rely on a number.
